Quack Cottage

Quack Cottage (sleeps 2-4, one double, two singles) has its own, large sunny south-facing fenced garden on the riverbank, over the old bridge from Higher North Mill. Relax in an idyllic Devon stone cottage with a spacious open-plan living/dining room, traditional in style with exposed beams and a wood burning stove. An old bread oven (non-functioning!) in the side of thick chimney walls adds to the charm of this “chocolate box” cottage, festooned with roses, jasmine, wisteria and honeysuckle.

The modern fitted kitchen is in a more recent extension with a 'stable door' into the garden so you can smell the roses as you cook. It has fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, washing machine, kettle, toaster and microwave as well as a large chest freezer for you to use.

Upstairs is a double bedroom and a single bedroom both with south-facing views over the garden, river and lawns. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a wash basin and a loo.

Downstairs is a further large single bedroom with its own handbasin.  It looks out through the wisteria to the garden.

Quack has an open-stair bannister so is not suitable for mobile children under five.

The large riverside garden is for Quack Cottage guests alone and has flowering shrubs along the banks, a herbaceous border under the sitting room window, and a picnic bench. There are deckchairs too so you can follow the sun from sunrise to sunset.
