Watermill Cottages - five comfy stone self-catering holiday cottages - are tastefully converted from the former Mill building, barns and labourers’ cottages around our old mill-house, built in the 1750s, on the Gara river. They're a maximum 150 metres' distance of each other, and so ideal if you'd like to come with a larger party of family and friends. All together we can accommodate up to 23 people. Each cottage is individual in decor yet each offers spacious, comfortable accommodation, a modern fitted kitchen (with washing machine, microwave, electric oven, krttle, toaster, fridge-freezer), bathrooms with baths and showers and two to three bedrooms. Travel cots and highchairs are available - just ask when you book. Freshly-ironed bed-linen is included; please bring your own towels and tea cloths. Each cottage is thoroughly cleaned before you arrive and we supply basic Ecover cleaning products and microfibre cloths to minimise our environmental impact. There's a wood-burning stove in every cottage and plenty of logs in our wood shed in the courtyard. Plus heating from electric storage and wall heaters so you're warm and cosy whatever the season. It's tranquil here - we don't receive TV or mobile phone signals so there's no TV or mobile ring tones; just birdsong, and the splashing river so you really do have peace and quiet! There are radios, plenty of books, and a good supply of games if you need them.. |

Each cottage has its own outside seating; Barleycorn, Rose and Quack Cottages have their own enclosed gardens. Crownwheel Cottage has a private low-walled patio festooned with honeysuckle right by the river with a lawn beyond the patio wall leading to the woods between mill leat & river. Mill Cottage has a flower- and herb-filled patio in the courtyard by the river wall. Feel free to enjoy the shared large riverside lawn and play in the river - borrow a barbecue, pull up a chair and make the most of it!. There's plenty of parking space too Crownwheel Cottage has a large living/dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, separate loo and bathroom on the ground floor, so its suitable for people with restricted mobility. Upstairs there's a large twin, very large bathroom and small lobby.

Barleycorn and Mill Cottages run from Saturday to Saturday and the other three cottages start and finish on a Friday. We welcome well-behaved dogs (other pets by arrangement) at a cost of £25 each per week. Each cottage has descriptions of the different walks around the valley and guidance to dog owners on other dog-friendly walks, beaches and pubs nearby. There are two dog-friendly pubs close by in Slapton, The Queens Arms (offers takeaway food) and The Tower Inn. |
